If you have a website or blog, you know the importance of creating great content for your website! Without it your business will flounder. How will your potential customers know what you provide? It’s impossible to build trust if you don’t have content that will meet your audience’s needs and help to solve their problems.
You need to know ‘why’ you are creating content for your website.
- Do you want to provide solutions and make sales?
- Do you want to build your list and relationships?
- Do you want to do both?
- Or are you just going to wing it and hope for the best?
We hope it’s not the last one! If you want to make your content creation worthwhile you need to have a content plan.
Your Website Content Helps Build Business Relationships
If you provide content that keeps your website visitors wanting to learn more from you, they will undoubtedly sign up to your newsletter and this gives you the opportunity to build a relationship with your readers.
As a marketer, you will know that your website was found either by a search made through the search engines, a search on a social media platform or by word of mouth. People are always looking for trusted experts, who can help solve their problems. If you are doing it right, you can then start to be one of the trusted experts. This all comes about by building relationships.
If you have built honest relationships, you have the ability to turn your ‘leads’ into sales! This should be an end goal!
You may be thinking, well how do I build a relationship with someone I have never met? Well, it’s the same as someone you meet offline. You don’t focus on you and your needs, you focus on them and their needs.
Another way to build a great relationship is to let them read all about you! They may have loved your content, but now they want to know more about the person behind the article. This is when you want to make sure you have created a conversion optimized about page!
It’s also important to be ‘YOU’. Don’t tell lies and say you have qualifications a mile long! If you get found out, you will lose all credibility in a heartbeat. It may take weeks, months or years to build lasting relationships, but they can become undone in seconds!
Creating Great Content For Your Website Using PLR
How do you create the best website content if you are ‘new to the game’ or ‘don’t feel like an expert’. If you are struggling to create well-written content, find someone who can. This can be through using PLR – private label rights – content. There are many quality PLR providers, who provide high quality written content that you can use as your own. Or you can hire a freelance writer to write your content for you.
Your content needs to be full of value, so don’t fluff out your articles and think that will do… it won’t! Write with meaning and write needed information! If you take shortcuts it will be obvious and people will close your page in the blink of an eye. They will be gone forever, never to return. That website visitor may have had their wallet or purse ready to buy from you… but you just lost out because you didn’t take the time to provide quality content. Ouch.
Continually Creating Great Content For Your Website
One big hurdle most content marketers have to deal with, is the having to create high quality content regularly. As you would have heard me say in our ‘From Overwhelmed to Mastery’ course, ‘Consistency is key!’
Not only do you have to create content for your website, there’s also your emails, your social media platforms and your sales pages! This takes time and money. Even if you are writing the content yourself, your time is precious and should be valued into the equation. So, how do you create content regularly? Create a content marketing plan!
- Will you post an article daily, once a week or once a month? If you plan on monthly, just remember, your competitors may be posting daily! So who do you think will be the ‘winner’?
- Will you email your list only when you post new content? Or will it be only just what you load into your autoresponder? Or will it be both?
- Will you also post to all your social media platforms about your new content on the same day, or spread out?
Regardless of your routine, be consistent and be organized.
Your Website Content Needs to Solve A Problem
If you can solve a problem you’re half way there! For example, in this article, we’re hoping to solve your issues with ‘creating great content for your website’! We’d love to know how we doing so far! If this article is not helping you, please let us know in the comment section below! That way we can address your specific problem!
Can you see what we just did there? We asked if we could help YOU! We want to help solve YOUR problem! This is all how creating your content builds trust, builds a relationship and potentially creates a customer!
Don’t Forget Your ‘Call to Action’
Now you might be saying, well you just did have a call to action. “You just asked me to leave a comment if I wanted more information”, and that’s true! However, you may not need anymore clarification on this topic, we may have ‘solved your problem’. Which is great if we have!
However, we would love to have you take action before you leave! There are many ‘calls to action’ you can choose to do. Remember! It depends on your article! Here are a few examples:
- If it’s a product review, and you’re the affiliate, you may want to send them to the sales offer.
- If you would like to build your list, send them to your squeeze page. (Make sure it relates to the topic discussed in the article… and not totally off topic… we’ve seen this happen all too often!)
- If you have a product or service, send them to read more about what you are offering, or your sales page.
- If you’d like them to join your social media platforms or group, have the buttons ready!
Whatever you do, don’t let an opportunity go by! Now is the time to make that ‘call to action’, one your website visitors can’t resist! Also, important note here! Only have one call to action!
If you give too many, you’ll have a zero result nine times out of ten. Why? Because many people can’t make a decision. They don’t want to make the wrong choice, or too many for that matter. You need to tell them what you would like them to do. Help them. You’re not being pushy, you’re being helpful!
